The General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – a time to hear from a modern prophet

Millions will gather this coming weekend on April 6th and 7th to participate in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints semiannual General Conference.

One of the hallmarks of the Church is the belief that God is still speaking to modern-day prophets to lead and guide His children just as He did with Moses, Abraham, and others in Biblical times. General Conference is a time twice a year when members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ get to hear the guiding voice of the Lord through the prophet, President Russell M. Nelson.

During the conference along with President Nelson, many other church leaders will have an opportunity to speak, including members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Like the prophet, apostles also receive guidance and revelation from God, as did Peter, James, John, and Paul from the New Testament. The main responsibility of an apostle is to testify of Christ and invite all to turn to the Savior and develop their own relationship with Him.

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said during last April’s general conference, “I testify that Jesus Christ is our resurrected and living redeemer, and I promise that He will guide, protect and strengthen us as we walk in the meekness of His spirit.”

The conference will also feature women and auxiliary leaders of the Church.

All are invited to participate in the Semiannual General Conference to hear the inspiring messages and learn more of Jesus Christ.

General Conference Schedule for April 2019:

  • The general priesthood session for men ages 12 and older will be held, Sunday, April 7, at 2:00 a.m. CET
  • The general sessions for all members will be held, Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, at 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. CET.

The conference will be broadcast online at ChurchofJesusChrist.org and will be available in over 80 languages where Church members and friends are invited to watch and participate. Follow the hashtag #GeneralConference on social media to see how the words of modern prophets and apostles have inspired millions.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has over 16 million members worldwide with over half a million members and 1,400 congregations in Europe.
